About Virgin Galactic Holdings Inc

Virgin Galactic is a US aerospace company founded by business magnate Richard Branson in 2004. It’s part of the Virgin Group, which has an 11.9% stake in the business, with headquarters in California. The company is focused on the manufacturing and operation of commercial spaceflights, which are expected to be offered to the general public around 2022. Virgin Galactic operates primarily from Spaceport America, an 18,000-acre space site located in the desert basin of New Mexico, where more than 300 launches have been carried out in recent years. Its flagship spacecraft is the SpaceShipTwo VSS Unity, which has a maximum capacity of eight people, and carried out a test flight in July 2021 with Branson himself. Virgin Galactic stock is listed on the New York Stock Exchange after merging with one of Social Capital’s special-purpose acquisition companies in 2019.
