KGHM (Kombinat Górniczo-Hutniczy Miedzi) is a Polish mining company involved in the extraction and production of precious metals and other non-ferrous metals. It was founded in 1961 with headquarters in Lubin, a city in western Poland, and additional offices in China and Canada. The company’s core product is copper, and it also mines gold, silver, molybdenum, rhenium, lead and other by-products including sulphuric acid, copper sulphate, nickel sulphate and selenium. KGHM operates seven open-pit and underground mines in Canada, Chile, Poland and the US. It controls over 40 million tonnes of copper ore resources worldwide which are then sold to a wide range of markets. The business provides additional services such as casting of light metals and waste management. KGHM stock is listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange and is a constituent of the WIG 30 index.
